WASHINGTON, July 29 (DC Times Online) — President Donald Trump eulogized Sen. Lindsey Graham on Tuesday at Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., calling the South Carolina Republican “a force of nature” and saying he would miss him greatly.

Trump described Graham as “a beloved friend, a devoted brother, a respected statesman, a giant of the United States Senate, and a true American original who left us much too soon.” He said Graham “died doing the work he was born to do” and called him “a truly great politician.”

“For more than 30 years, nothing of consequence happened in this capital without Lindsey Graham knowing about it,” Trump said, adding that Graham influenced both legislation and world affairs. “Nothing of significance happened anywhere in the world without Lindsey Graham having a view on it,” he said.

Graham died earlier this month at age 71, according to the Washington, D.C., medical examiner, who said the cause was an aortic dissection. He had represented South Carolina in the Senate for more than three decades.

The cathedral service came after Graham was honored earlier in the day at the U.S. Capitol.
