PRIMM, NEVADA, July 23 (Vegas News Online) — Terrible’s reopened Primm Valley Casino on Wednesday, bringing the small casino resort on the California-Nevada border back into service just 17 days after the company took control of the property.
The reopening matters because Primm is more than a single casino floor. It is a gateway stop along Interstate 15 for travelers moving between Southern California and Las Vegas, and the property is part of a cluster of hotels, shops and gaming spaces that have long defined the area’s identity.
What opened on July 22?
Terrible’s said the reopened property includes 422 gaming machines, 250 hotel rooms, a William Hill sportsbook, a sports bar and a 24-hour quick-bites restaurant. The company marked the opening with a brief ceremony and remarks from Terrible’s executives and Corey Clemetson, who is the grandson of Primm founder Ernie Primm.
The company also said new promotions would launch on reopening day and that more dining options were already being planned.
Why is the reopening notable?
Primm Valley Casino had been through a fast-moving management change. In late June, the Nevada Gaming Control Board approved Terrible Herbst’s application to operate Primm Valley Resort & Casino, Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino and Whiskey Pete’s Hotel & Casino, along with a restricted gaming license for Primm Center.
Affinity Interactive later said that management control of the gaming properties transferred at 12:01 a.m. on July 5. The company also said Terrible’s had taken over several non-gaming businesses in the area on July 1, including Primm Center, a Chevron gas station, a Flying J, Whiskey Pete’s Travel Store, the Lotto Store and Starbucks.
That quick handoff helped keep the property moving through a period when its future had been uncertain.
What is Terrible’s changing?
One of the company’s clearest promises is to remove resort fees. Resort fees are extra mandatory charges that many hotels add on top of the advertised room rate. Scrapping them can make the final bill lower and easier to compare with other properties.
Terrible’s also said it would match the rewards tiers already earned by returning customers. In plain terms, that means guests who had status in the old system should not have to start from zero.
The company said it is aiming for a mix of gaming, hotel stays and quick dining, with more promotions and more food options expected to follow.
Why does Primm matter to Las Vegas?
Primm sits at a familiar entrance point for people driving to Las Vegas from Southern California. For decades, the area has served as a rest stop, a gambling stop and a place to break up the desert drive.
That makes the Primm Valley reopening part business story, part regional entertainment story. It is about whether a once-strained resort corridor can keep drawing travelers with a simpler price structure, loyalty perks and a fresh operating team.
For now, Terrible’s has moved quickly to get the casino back open, and the company says it wants to build from there.
