STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo., July 1 (Our Colorado Times) — A bear climbed into a parked truck in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, after Andy Kerrigan left it unattended, and he chased the animal out with a wooden plank, surveillance video and witness accounts show.
The footage, captured by Justin E. Pickar on Clubhouse Drive and shared through Storyful, shows Kerrigan opening the truck and finding the bear in the front seat. Pickar told Storyful he was scared at first, then laughed once he saw Kerrigan was okay.
The New York Times reported that the encounter happened June 23. In comments quoted by the paper, Kerrigan said he was “astonished, surprised” and that the bear was “sitting shotgun eating my lunch.” He also said he believed the animal may have pushed the window down as it climbed in.
KSL reported that neither Kerrigan nor the bear was injured.
