BOSTON, July 6 (Nationwide Times) — A German World Cup fan said an emotional trip to the United States changed how he sees the country after Boston residents helped him get to his hotel and he found himself in tears during the visit.

In an interview with NBC 10 Boston, Sebastian Krause said he had been “a bit scared” to travel to the United States because of what he had heard in overseas news coverage about shootings, criminals and safety.

But after the trip, Krause said he “fall[s] in love with this country” and called the experience “so emotional,” adding that he had “cried in the stadium.” He also said, “America is great.”

Krause said he got stuck at a stadium and was driven to his hotel in Boston by local residents. He said the kindness left him with “tears in my eyes,” and added, “Americans are not rude. Germans are not rude. If we are together, we can achieve great things.”
